MUMenTUM

So last week I reported a loss of a pound (woo!), today I am pleased to report another loss of a pound (faints!). I've a feeling this weightloss is going to be a bit of a slow burner...

So still no chocolate which is really bizarre - I've made up for it in wine though ;-) Had a lovely meal out at a Tapas restaurant on Thursday so didn't hold back on my food or wine. I've been pretty good exercising again, 2 lots of Zumba, 50 lengths swimming and a walk that seemed to last forever (in reality probably about an hour of hilly walking).

So that's it in a nutshell really. I'm still listening to Trevor, bless him. My eating habits have without question changed. I'm doing well with my exercising, I could do better with the wine. I reckon I could speed up the weightloss if I gave up wine, but where would the fun be in that?!

MUMenTUM

So I stepped gingerly on the scales this morning, after WEEKS of no loss, I am pleased to announce that I have actually lost a whole pound.  Err.. go me.

Still a pound is a pound..  I need to lose about a stone so not a huge amount to lose but it is proving way more difficult than I imagined.  This week has been tricky as we went to Peppa Pig World for two days and theme park food is not great at the best of times.  I went with good intentions of course but the choice was limited so I may have resorted to chips.  And then of course we had to go out for tea with the kids so Pizza Hut were doing a good deal....  and then we had another day of junk essentially, rounding the 2 days off with a KFC.  Whoop! Did I do well... ??!

On a more serious note, when we got back I did feel bad and subsequently went swimming on the Friday, then attempted the gym on the Saturday (but it was closed so I went for a 'run').  When I say 'run' I mean that in the loosest of terms, as the lovely man walking his dog remarked as I went past 'err you're supposed to be running love, not walking'.  Yes, thank you.  Anyhow, I brushed myself off from that little comment, came home and did Just Dance on the Wii.  Then on Sunday I went swimming again, yep another 50 lengths.  And get this, I've just got back from Zumba.  Phewwww!

Funnily enough (now I may be getting obsessed) but I weighed myself after Zumba and I'd lost another pound.  That could be through sweat though?!  So that's two whole pounds.  What's the bet it's all magically back on by the morning?

Watch this space!

Pepppppppa Pig... oink!

So we drove for 5 hours on Tuesday morning (up with the larks at 5.00am to get on the road!).  Peppa Pig World is near Southampton so for us (near Leeds) it is a massive trek, but the kids are huge Peppa Pig fans and James and I love theme parks so we figured it would be worth it.

We managed to get a deal with Paultons Park (where Peppa Pig World is situated) and got a night at the Holiday Inn plus 2 days entry into the park for £115, I reckon that's a pretty good deal - especially as we tucked into a full English breakfast as well!

As we approached the park we saw the signs for Peppa Pig World and James and I got a bit giddy - turned around to get the kids excited only to find them both fast asleep!  They had been awake the WHOLE journey down and decided to have a little nap minutes before we got there.  Little tinkers.  Anyway we woke them up (obviously) and headed straight to the Peppa Pig section of the park.

We went straight to the 'Windy Castle' ride - there was a bit of a queue so we were trying to wrestle with the 2 kids for the duration.  Queuing is not their forte unfortunately.  Dexter kept trying to leg it away from the queue and got most upset when we kept bringing him back.  We then had to resort to bribing both kids with bread sticks for the whole of the queue, that meant the whole packet had been eaten by the time we got to the front!  It was worth it though, we all loved the ride and we were able to see out over the whole of Peppa Pig World to decide what ride to go on next.... and so the day continued in a similar vein.  More queuing, more bribery but the kids did seem to get 'better' at queuing as the day progressed and we came up with more tactics to keep them amused!

Peppa Pig World is so lovely and colourful and exactly as it appears on the TV.  There are about 7 great rides, and towards the end of the day (around 4.00pm) people start to go home so you don't have to queue!  Throughout the park there are recordings of the characters and the theme tune playing and it is just so lovely and innocent.  The children even got to meet Peppa and George - little Dexter was overcome with excitement!

We were able to leave Peppa Pig World and go on all the other rides within Paultons as well which was great as Keani and I got to go on the Log Flume and some other really cool rides!

We were all exhausted at the end of the day.  James and I fretted about having the kids in the same room as us (we had a particulary bad experience last year!) but we needn't have worried as the kids fell asleep immediately and didn't wake up til 8.00am! Result!  When they woke up we asked them what they wanted to do that day and they both said 'go to Peppa Pig World!' which was fortunate as we had a 2 days for the price of 1 pass!  So another fun packed day was spent there.

We had a ball and can't wait to go again :-) I've got that bloomin' Peppa Pig theme tune in my head now....   :-(   !!

MUMenTUM

Sorry for the late post, not been around much this week!

Well, what can I say? I started off last Monday with a Zumba class, Wednesday Zumba class, Friday swimming (50 full lengths - go me!) and Sunday another 50 lengths.  I ate no chocolate, no rubbish, felt entirely virtuous, stood on the scales...... and cried.  I have stayed exactly the same blinkin' weight since I started. I have no idea why.  It is so unfair! <stamps feet>.

However winners never quit and quitters never win and all that.  I've got to carry on doing this...  I went swimming this week with another 3 mums, all of whom have had 2 babies and all of whom are very skinny.  Made me feel rubbish to be honest.  My belly will not shift.  But I refuse to be miserable, I like wine and I like eating - I can't give that up, I refuse to! I've cut down, I've upped my exercise, what more do I need to do...  ?    (arrgghhhh!!).

Hope to have a more positive post next week.  In the meantime, I'm off to the gym....

Shaking my booty - oh yeah!

Well tonight I have just come back sweat laden from my new Zumba class.  It's been something I've been putting off for ages and I decided tonight was 'the night'.  I was lucky to get a cancellation as the class is normally full and I'm really glad I went.  The class was fun and I shook my booty!

Yeah, I was a bit nervous to begin with, I thought everyone would be super fit and super co-ordinated but fortunately this wasn't the case.  I was able to learn the moves reasonably quick and I realised how much I'd missed dancing.  The only dancing I do now is drunk wedding dancing - all a bit tragic really.  I hardly listen to music anymore really so it was great to get back into it again.  Don't get me wrong I'm not a dancer but I used to enjoy nights out and 'getting on down' before I had the kids!

The lovely Trevor from 'Slimpod' fame, hasn't quite worked his magic weight wise, though to be honest I haven't had a bar of chocolate for 3 weeks (unheard of!).  So why I haven't lost any weight I don't know.. although I'm thinking the copious amounts of wine (ahem) I've been drinking probably haven't helped my cause. So the Zumba class is needed I think.  Obviously one class a week isn't going to make much difference, but I'm going to try and do a session mid week as well and then perhaps on Friday go swimming or something.  Ha! listen to me!  I always have so many good intentions....

Me!        (no, not really)

PS. Have decided to join the Mumentum ladies if they'll have me ;-)
