Competition

I've been very lucky with competitions this year and a lot of it is down to some lovely people 'liking' my posts and voting for me.  As a thank you to all of you I would like to host a small competition to win a MASSIVE retro sweet hamper.  It was a prize I won recently and I did want to keep it but to be honest I want to lose a bit of timber before I go on hols early next year, so eating sweets all day is not a good idea... (but my, how I love sweets!).

The hamper is a bit like this (only bigger!) and all you need to do is post a comment below (you may need to click on 'read more') telling me about your favourite childhood sweet - what was it and why was it your favourite? Easy!  For an extra entry simply follow my blog on Google Connect.

  7. There is nothing like sweets to bring back memories. Especially those that you never see in the vast super market chains. I know they were not exactly well named (for today's market or tbh even then) but I adored black jacks . It may explain my occasional Pernod habit in adult hood, thankfully no black tongue from that,no nasty headache from blackjacks though.

  15. Favourite sweet... ALL OF THEM and as many as possible :)

I guess if I had to choose, i'd say my top few were/are:

Flying saucers - who couldn't enjoy the cardboardy outer shell followed by sherbet!

Kola Kubes - Anything that is purposefully spelt rong must be good.

Rhubarb an Custard - I just can't get the tune from the cartoon out of my head.

I'm sure there are at least 100 other favourites, but I'll stop now (and run off to the sweet shop) (except it's gone midnight on a Sunday so not even Tesco is still open - not that they have many sweets that are as good as they were in my day...

  27. I used to like the bubble gum machine outside our local store . Every 5th go it gave an extra pack so I used to watch and wait till it got to the bonus turn before I put my money in. The bubbles when they burst used to stick to your face in thise days if you were not careful. Many a time I had a grey/black ring around my mouth from the gum. Second to that was fruit salad as I did not get much money to spend those were the only sweets I could afford
